…of Kathmandu. It’s been such joy to be an anonymous spectator in the whirlwind of its beautiful contradictions. As dusk is settling in it’s now dawning upon me that tomorrow is THE day. Finally! Early AM flight to Lukla (on let’s face it…a makeshift “airplane” at best) to start our trek and though I’m a mountain girl at heart, this is new territory - one with its own personality, its own wonder, its own challenges and its own secrets. I mean, it’s Everest so yeah, all bets are off. I know zero. But once a Boulder-girl always a Boulder-girl so just silly-giddy excited to get up there and play in the mountains! Lucky, lucky me. :) Sending all my love from a very steamy Saturday eve in Kathmandu. Jules xo
Hi guys: A'la my other little random trips, keeping a little random blog to share with my nearest and dearest (yes, that would be you) some of what is sure to be a wild and wonderful (she said optimistically...) few weeks in Nepal. Here it goes… It's just now starting to hit me that we're actually going to Everest - maybe it's the incredulous amount of "bare necessities" that have taken over my guest room (seriously looks like a cry for help), or perhaps it's the extraordinary number of zeros before the decimal point followed by "Amount Due" on this month’s Amex statement, OR it could be the massive headache from going cold turkey without caffeine so I don't like uh, DIE during the three weeks I won't be in anywhere-proximity to an espresso machine. Indeed, it IS starting to sink in. And...exhale. :) So yes, it would appear that after all of these months of planning I have nothing left to do but just wait...and wait...and wait. Patie...
